I am a Ph.D. candidate of System Engineering and Engineering Management Department, The Chinese University of Hong Kong supervised by Prof. Wong Kam-Fai. My research interests focus on natural language processing, large language models, speech recognition, etc.

I'm positively seeking for research internship and exchange opportunities of the laboratoties in universities or companies. Expect collaborations in LLM related research to exchange great ideas and welcome to contact me.

🔭 Research Interests

⭐️ Reliable LLM/Agent: We define a reliable agent as one that confidently and accurately responds to known questions, leverages external tools to address uncertain or unknown queries, and firmly refuse unanswerable questions. We focus on eliciting LLMs to filter out inherently unanswerable questions as well as distinguish the LLM internal/external knowledge boundaries, enabling the agent to directly respond to queries within its knowledge scope while invoking external tools for those beyond its capacity.  [GitHub]

⭐️ LLM Uncertainty: Uncertainty estimation or modeling in LLMs holds significant importance for hallucination or factuality checking, calibration, and the enhancement of reliability and robustness. However, current LLMs still exhibit an overconfidence problem, tending toward deterministic responses and lacking the ability to express uncertainty in a human-like manner. We focus on aligning linguistic expressions of uncertainty with token-level entropy to mitigate hallucinations and improve the reliability of LLM outputs.

⭐️ Multilingual LLM: In multilingual communication, individuals typically draw upon the knowledge bases inherent to their native languages. Yet, the cultural divergences across languages often pose obstacles to effective interaction. To address this challenge, we focus on transferring culture-specific knowledge advantages embedded in each language to others in alignment, aiming to “Rebuild the Babel Tower”.
